The ISU gymnastics staff welcomes Jessica Bartgis as the new assistant coach for the 2009–’10 season. Bartgis enters the Cyclone coaching team after three years as an assistant coach at Pittsburgh.

In 2007, she was named the NCAA Northeast Regional Co-Assistant Coach of the Year, focusing on vault and floor at Pittsburgh. She was also the co-recruiting coordinator for the Panthers during her time at Pittsburgh.

Bartgis brings experience from coaching not only at Pittsburgh, but also at West Virginia as a volunteer. West Virginia, Bartgis’ alma mater, is where she worked as a volunteer assistant during the 2005–’06 season.

As a Mountaineer, Bartgis posted the third-highest all-around score in school history with 39.625. The Frederick, Md., native was a first-team All-EAGL honoree in all-around and bars in 2005, as well as a NACGC/W All-Academic selection.

Along with her duties as an assistant coach, Bartgis will also be a team director and head coach of the Cardinal Gymnastics Academy.
