The No. 14 ISU volleyball team is looking for its third straight conference win when it takes on Oklahoma at the McCasland Field House in Norman on Wednesday night.

The Cyclones (12–3, 4–2 Big 12) are coming off of a 3–0 sweep against Missouri that saw the best team blocking effort since 2007, as well as five players in double digits for digs and three for kills.

Senior setter Kaylee Manns will try to continue her ascension up the Big 12’s all-time assists list. She is 10 assists away from grabbing seventh place and only 23 away from jumping into fifth all-time.

Junior libero Ashley Mass is chasing records of her own. Mass only needs one more double-digit dig match to put her in a tie for third on ISU’s all-time list, which would give her 76 matches in double digits in her career.

The key for Iowa State may be winning the first set. When doing so this season, the Cyclones have won 18 straight matches.

In Oklahoma’s most recent match, the Sooners (11–4, 4–2) defeated Texas Tech 3–0 on Saturday. In the Sooners’ matchup with No. 9 Nebraska last Wednesday, Oklahoma kept the match close, taking sets two and four from the Huskers, but lost 3–2.

Offensively, Oklahoma is led by junior middle blocker Francie Ekwerekwu, who is averaging 2.67 kills as well as one block per game.

The Sooners are also one of the better defensive teams in the Big 12, ranking second in the conference behind Iowa State with 17.62 digs per match. The two teams have identical opponent hitting averages of .137, which is tied for second in the conference. Oklahoma freshman libero Maria Fernanda was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week and also won Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 21.

Oklahoma holds a 41–22 advantage in the all-time series. However, the Cyclones are 4–4 against the Sooners under coach Christy Johnson-Lynch.

First serve is set for 7 p.m. The Cyclones will stay on the road for their weekend game when they travel to Kansas on Saturday.
