Women’s basketball Preseason All-Big 12 predictions were announced on Wednesday, and Iowa State’s senior point guard Alison Lacey was on the list. For the second year in a row, Lacey has been chosen for the honorable mention accolade.

Lacey is the top returning scorer for the Cyclones, after averaging 11.2 points per game last year and was the team leader in assists with 3.7 a night. In the Iowa State rankings, Lacey sits at 16th on the career scoring chart with 1,147 points. Lacey became a member of the 1,000 point club last year in the Iowa State game against Nebraska at Hilton Coliseum.

The Canberra, Australia, native ranks sixth among conference returners in scoring and leads the league in three-pointers in a career. Lacey was an active part of the Cyclones’ 2009 Elite Eight finish in the NCAA tournament. Lacey will be the face of Iowa State basketball this season and she takes control of the Cyclone offense.

Coach Bill Fennelly noted the respect that members of the selection team have for Lacey, and thinks “she is ready to have a great senior year,” according to Wednesday’s press release.
