The Cyclones (3-0-3) traveled to Charleston, Ill. on Friday night and finished with a 1-1 tie to the Panthers. Although Iowa State outshot Eastern Illinois 27-6 in the game, the Cyclones weren’t able to finish the way they’d hoped.

“We started hot the first five minutes out of the gate,” said head coach Wendy Dillinger in the press release Friday. “After Eastern Illinois scored it had a lot more energy and was winning a lot of the 50-50 balls. They had several good opportunities and really pressured us defensively.”

Sophomore Mary Kate McLaughlin converted on a header to score her first goal of the season and put Iowa State up 1-0 just over two minutes into the match. Panther Rachel Hamilton evened the score at the 12:19 mark, where it would remain the rest of the game.

Iowa State will remain in Illinois this weekend as they face off with Western Illinois on Sunday at 1 p.m.
