Three colleges will be welcoming new leadership Wednesday.

Jonathan Wickert, dean of the College of Engineering, Luis-Rico Gutierrez, dean of the College of Design and Pam White, dean of the College of Human Sciences, will all officially begin work Wednesday.

White held the position of interim dean for the past two years and was selected on April 16 to serve as dean.

“Before I thought ‘Oh, I am already doing this,’ but now a lot of advanced planning has kicked in,” White said. “When you see yourself doing something in the future, your mind is allowed to envision more.”

White said her goal is to make sure the college continues to excel.

“One of our number-one priorities that involves several departments is to be a leader in science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM,” White said.

Wickert could not be reached for comment Monday, but in a previous interview with the Daily, he said he hopes to bring more diversity to the College of Engineering by creating incentive programs to attract women.

Gutierrez was unable to be reached for comment Monday, as he is in the process of moving into his new home.
