Down two, under ten seconds left, Texas Tech’s John Roberson hoisted what he hoped would be the game winning shot.

It clanked off the rim and into the hands of Red Raider teammate Mike Singletary who put up another would-be-game-winner that bounced high off the right side of the rim before coming to rest harmlessly on the court.

The Cyclones defeated the Red Raiders 78-76 in an uncharacteristically high scoring game at Hilton Coliseum Saturday on senior night. Iowa State lead the game for most of the night, but Texas Tech was able to fight back from 9 down with just over 11 minutes left in the half. The Red Raiders slowly whittled the Cyclone lead down until the Cyclones took a two point lead on a Garrett free throw with 24 seconds left in the game.

Iowa State was lead by Craig Brackins and Senior Bryan Peterson with 21 and 20 points respectivly.  Brackins also lead the team with 14 rebounds. Garrett added 17 points for the Cyclones.
