After picking up their first win of the season, the Cyclones will try to add to the momentum from their victory over Minnesota last weekend with a win against Oklahoma.

“I’m really excited and I really want to keep this winning streak rolling,” said senior Ceilia Maccani.

Iowa State is hoping they can be equally calm and collected this weekend in order to put up big scores and have great routines.

“I’m expecting to see a similar attitude that we brought into the last competition, against Minnesota. I’m also hoping we hit routines on every event, and not count a fall,” said coach Jay Ronayne.

The Cyclones are hoping to have another big, energetic, loud crowd this Friday at Hilton Coliseum.

“We had a good crowd last week which was really fun and hopefully we’ll get another great turn out this time,” said junior Nikki Dilbert.

A home meet for the Cyclones means more time in the gym and a more normal, less hectic schedule.

“There is a different attitude when we’re at home. For one thing when we’re not traveling. We get to practice more,” Ronayne said. “A home meet also doesn’t interrupt your regular schedule as much,”

In practice this week the Cyclones have been focusing on fixing beam problems after last weekend’s three falls and balance check.

“Beam is looking good, in practice is goes really really good, just in meet situations, sometimes the nerves get to people. So we’ve been working on that a lot, like putting people in pressure situations to get them ready for a meet situation,” Maccani said.

The Cyclones know that every event is looking pretty good but they can add a lot of tenths to their score if they can stay on the balance beam.

“In the gym we’ve been working really hard on our confidence, in the beam line up especially, and just working on skills and making sure we’re ready for this meet,” Dilbert said.
