The ISU swimming and diving team came out on top after taking on Northern Iowa on Saturday, winning by a score of 201-88.

The meet started out very well for the Cyclones, as they won 11 of the first 13 events. Senior swimmer Lindsay Wegner carried the Cyclones with three big victories in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and anchored the 4×200 relay. Other key contributors were Marni Benson, Frances Calzada and Lindsey Behrens. Benson took the 200 in a time of 2 minutes, 23.61 seconds, Calzada won two events, including a career best finish of 51.99 in the 100 freestyle, and Behrens won two events as well.

Sophomore Jeli Nixt took the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.54. Nixt has yet to lose the 100 in five meets, and the win on Saturday kept that streak alive. She also helped her team gain a few more points in swimming as a member of the 4×200 relay team.

In diving, it was business as usual. Tien Tran won both the 1- and 3-meter events, giving her seven wins on the season. The sweep of the 1- and 3-meter was her fourth sweep of the two events on the year. Tran worked her way up a little more in the Cyclone diving record books with her great performance in the 1-meter event. In the 3-meter, Tran continued to post some of the best scores in Cyclone history, with a score of 318.31.

The Cyclones also saw good diving finishes by senior Kali Fryklund, junior Abby Christensen and freshman Jenn Botsch. Christian and Botsch finished with career high scores in the 1-meter, while Fryklund finished second in both 1- and 3-meter.

The Cyclones travel to Iowa City to take on the Hawkeyes for their next meet on Friday.
