DES MOINES, Iowa — Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is scheduled to visit Des Moines on Friday.

A news release from his campaign says he will hold a rally in which he will urge Iowans to vote early.

Details of the rally haven’t been released.

Obama canceled a visit to Iowa last week to visit his ailing grandmother in Hawaii.

Obama’s trip to Iowa comes after several events held last weekend in the state by Republican nominee John McCain and his running mate, Sarah Palin.
