IOWA CITY (AP) — Hawkeye fans will be happy to know that the University of Iowa is no longer missing its “O” flag.

Officials say the large flag with the letter “O” used to spell Iowa during football games disappeared for several days, but was returned Tuesday night.

David Visin, associate director of public safety for the university, says someone dropped off the flag at the front desk of the athletic department. He says the person was not identified by university police and the school isn’t interested in pursuing criminal charges.

Visin thinks it was a Good Samaritan who dropped off the flag, which is used by the cheer squad.

The Hawkeyes finish the regular season at Minnesota on Saturday.
