IOWA CITY *#8212 University of Iowa football player Clint Huntrods was arrested early Thursday after a police officer saw him urinating in public, police said.

Huntrods, a senior long-snapper, was spotted by a bike patrol officer urinating on a downtown street corner. He then tried to run from the officer, police said.

He was caught behind a tattoo shop after a brief chase, said police Sgt. Troy Kelsay.

Huntrods was charged with urinating in public, public intoxication and interference with official acts.

He appeared on Johnson County District Court later in the day and was being held in jail under $1,800 bond.

Trial was scheduled for Oct. 30.
