Deadline approaches for Iowa Games

The 21st annual Iowa Games are just around the corner, and the deadline for registering for many of the events is fast approaching.

The games take place July 2 to 8, 12 to 15, and 20 to 22 in Ames and the surrounding area, with registration closing for many events on July 2.

The Iowa Games feature 56 sports, ranging from team sports such as baseball and softball to individual sports such as the triathlon and archery.

There are 40 individual sports and 16 team sports in this year’s games, with sports such as granny basketball and cycling tour ride debuting. Visit www.iowagames.org for a complete listing and full descriptions of each event.

Last year, the games totaled 17,582 participants, and Lori Judge, associate director of sports and operations, is expecting another solid turnout.

“As a staff, we are thrilled to see the number of teams and individuals from all over the state competing in the games so far,” said Judge in a press release. “We already have participants from all 99 counties in Iowa and look forward to this upcoming deadline.”

People wanting to register for the games can register online at www.iowagames.org or by picking up an entry form at Casey’s General Stores, Hy-Vee stores, Subway locations, U.S. Bank locations, U.S. Cellular locations and YMCA/YWCAs.
