After splitting their two games on Friday in the ShareSLO Mustang Classic in San Luis Obispo, California, the Cyclones won both of their games on Saturday.

Iowa State beat the Utah State Aggies 9-0 in six innings and the California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) Mustangs 6-3.

After losing to Utah State 10-1 on Friday, Iowa State got revenge on the Aggies on Saturday with a victory.

The scoring started in the top of the third inning as senior Kirsten Caudle hit an RBI single that allowed senior designated player Sydney Stites to score.

Following Caudle’s hit, junior shortstop Sami Williams hit a three-run home run to give the Cyclones a 4-0 lead.

Stites scored once again in the top of the fourth inning off of an RBI single by third baseman Logan Schaben.

Caudle followed Schaben’s hit with a two-RBI home run to give the Cyclones a 6-0 lead.

In the top of the fifth inning, freshman second baseman Kasey Simpson scored off an error by the Aggies.

Catcher Kaylee Bosworth hit a two-RBI home run in the top of the sixth inning to give Iowa State a 9-0 victory over the Aggies in six innings.

Against the Mustangs, the Cyclones were down early as Hailey Martin hit a solo home run for Cal Poly in the bottom of the second.

Iowa State responded in the top of the fourth inning with a three RBi double by senior first baseman Sally Woolpert.

Cal Poly scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game 3-3. However, the Cyclones recaptured the lead with an RBI double by Woolpert in the top of the fifth inning.

Freshman second baseman Kasey Simpson padded the Cyclones lead with an RBI double in the top of the sixth inning. Stites scored for the Cyclones to give them a 5-3 lead.

Williams scored the final run of the game off a groundout by freshman catcher Mikayla Ramos that gave the Cyclones a 6-3 victory over the Mustangs.
