LETTER: ISU should create towers memorial

Heather Reynolds

Ames

Watching the towers fall on July 20 was a sad event for me. Yes, I was one of the on-lookers with tears in their eyes.

Though I never had the fortune to live in either building, I do have fond memories of them and the community that existed within them.

I think Iowa State needs to use the implosion and the rubble left behind to create a memorial for the two buildings and the memories built there.

Perhaps they could build a new sidewalk using the concrete window frames from the buildings themselves, putting the names of the houses where the windows once were.

I would love to see Iowa State do something to remember a part of our history here, not just throw the big pieces away and leave the rest to blow in the wind.
