With all the talk about the issues of homelessness awareness and the need for help, I thought it would be appropriate to let everyone know something they can do to help in Ames. At the Habitat for Humanity International Web site, you can look for ways to volunteer both in Iowa and elsewhere. For more specific information for Story County and the Ames area you can search by using the Ames ZIP code on the International site. This site gives specific information about the current building schedules, volunteer opportunities and who to contact to sign up. They are in the process of building in Ames and could use volunteers. You can sign up as a group or as individuals for a variety of positions from building to serving lunch. If you’re really interested in getting involved to help end homelessness, I encourage everyone to sign up to volunteer.
