LETTER: Shantytown showed greatness of Towers
April 10, 2005
Though Knapp and Storms are nearly ready for demolition, the members of the Towers Residence Association made it clear this weekend that their sense of community is still very strong. Students from Wallace and Wilson halls held the first ever “Shantytown” on Friday and Saturday. Using cardboard and various assortments of duct, masking and packing tape, they constructed a makeshift city in the courtyard between the four Towers, showing that the heart of Towers isn’t in the buildings but in the community residents form.
I’d like to congratulate everybody from Wallace-Wilson who was a part of this final Towers celebration for the outstanding event it was. The hard work by event coordinators and Wallace-Wilson staff members was evident in the success of Shantytown. Students from Wallace-Wilson should be proud of the community they’re a part of. It shines brightly among the residence halls.
This weekend’s activities were a great reminder of what a great place TRA has been to live for thousands of ISU students.
