LETTER: Newlin’s right: Rude guys are the best
April 19, 2005
This letter is in response to Ethan Newlin’s column, “A Serious Threat to Masculinity” (April 18). He claimed that men who wear pink shirts are just trying to appear nice to women by wearing an “innocent color.” He also said that this backfires because “girls don’t want nice guys and they’ve never wanted nice guys.”
Apparently, we want men who are “masculine.” Wow, thanks for the insight, Mr. Newlin! And all this time, I’ve been looking for nice guys! I guess I need to dump my nice guy right away and get a real man who doesn’t wear pink shirts!
My new rules are (1) the meaner the better, and (2) no pink allowed! I can’t thank you enough Mr. Newlin, for your wonderful explanation of women. However did you do it?!
