LETTER: Players must show passion for game
January 24, 2005
First of all, I would like to say that I support ISU athletics in general. I was at the men’s basketball game Saturday night, and I was disappointed, not only in the outcome of the game, but in the apparent lack of enthusiasm from the players. Why do we have to play a top-ranked team to play like we want to be there? I do think it would help if the crowd would cheer more. That should help, but the players should be on their game and play like they want to go to the big dance.
Sure, it may be an off night, but it has been proven that they can play with the big schools, so why don’t they act like that team in every game?
I hope I don’t give the wrong impression. I do hope that more people show up to the games to support them and that the players who read this know that I am only disappointed and not disowning the team. I just want the team to play like I wish I could — I know it can. I will be there next Saturday versus Oklahoma, hope the players will be, too.
