LETTER: Take Moore with plenty of salt

As a Republican who is not afraid of Michael Moore, I was very entertained by his “lecture” at Hilton Coliseum. Moore began the evening by addressing Republicans as “shameless,” “ignorant,” “angry,” and “rich,” among other traits.

Moore was more than an hour late because he could not land his private jet in Ames. To all of those “slackers” who were eating out of Moore’s hand, pay attention to this: Moore is rich.

He is not some working-class schlub that spends all of his time in Flint, Mich. He is worth millions. Millionaires with socialist views are walking contradictions, and Moore is no exception.

Moore may sound convincing to the uninformed, apathetic voter. I’d want to oust Bush if Moore were my main news source. The left loves to ridicule Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter, but they are not afraid of a debate. Moore evades debates more than salads. There were no opportunities for questions from the audience. He is an angry malcontent with a camera and a microphone. But Moore does this for a reason: He feels guilty for supporting Nader in 2000 and will do anything to unseat the president. To all the slackers: Do more than “Pick your nose, your butt and pick Kerry.”

Consider an opposing viewpoint. Talk to your “Recovering Republican friends.” If you were uninformed coming into Hilton Sunday night, you left misinformed. If you weigh all educated opinions and still feel like voting for Kerry, then be my guest. Please do not vote based on Moore’s angry, shameless tirades.

He is very good at showing you what he wants you to see and omits anything to the contrary. Do your own research before voting in this important election.
