LETTER: Iraqis more grateful than Tesdell realizes
September 29, 2004
Ramsey Tesdell doesn’t need to ask soldiers in Iraq a thing. By now he should know that there are quite a few of us here on campus. I, for one, can tell you and your readers that the Iraqi people do want freedom. Not a single day went by that I was not thanked by an Iraqi while there.
He should also look back in history at the first democracy. Does anyone remember the Athenians? Not even 80 percent of the population had any type of voice.
Tesdell also wanted to talk about pushing our views on the Iraqis. Well, how about we stop pushing not only the views you think they should have on their own but the views of others as well.
I think if Tesdell could step out of his conservative bashing shell for a second, he may see a whole new world.
