LETTER: Tesdell forgets to do research
September 21, 2004
In his Sept. 20 column, does Ramsey Tesdell honestly expect to win over supporters by attacking a world leader in aerospace technology for making a donation to fund education?
Anyone reading his column with honest skepticism can see that his motivations are less than pure. The evil corporations and the military must have really upset him at some point.
Socialism has several logical arguments, but trying to cast private industry as an evil villain is not on the list. Insinuating that the government is forcing universities to beg for blood money is one of his more offensive comments.
Lockheed Martin is a corporation in good standing with the public and attacking it with his lies is shameful.
If Lockheed Martin has sold $25.5 billion worth of weapons of mass destruction, then kudos to it for being successful for their stockholders. Unfortunately, Lockheed Martin cannot sell weapons of mass destruction; only the U.S. government can do that. Now, the U.S. government has sold weapons systems to Iraq, weapons that have caused pain and suffering in the Middle East.
That is the definition of weapon of mass destruction that he seems to be using, so Iraq definitely has weapons of mass destruction, and the war is justified. Wow, when applied to the facts, his logic can hurt his own argument. But I understand Ramsey doesn’t mean it that way. He has offered proof to the contrary several times, so maybe he should think before he wastes my time.
