LETTER: Objective voting isn’t attainable
September 15, 2004
Aren’t we all basically un-informed as to what really happens and as to who would be the better candidate? What people hear is what the media want us to hear.
As unbiased as the media try to be, there is always some sort of political motive behind articles. So essentially we never really get the full version of any story at any given point in time. Based on this, we are left to sort through, decide and vote for whom we believe is best with the information we have at our disposal.
Voting is there so people can decide on their own what makes, or doesn’t make, a good candidate for the job.
If they truly believe that candidate A would be better choice because they are trendier than candidate B, that is up for that person to decide. As ignorant as it may be, we can’t say they are wrong for deciding in that manner if it’s what they truly believe. No opinion is less relevant than another.
Mr. Peterson, you hold a position more powerful than most top executives with the ability to reach out to hundreds to thousands of people on a weekly basis.
Don’t complain about people being uninformed on topics when you or others in your position don’t inform us.
So instead of writing about how ignorant we all are, why don’t you inform us on how things really are and allow the democratic process to continue. Instead of being left out in the dark, we can make our voting choice on style or other issues you might not find relevant.
