LETTER: Become a member of the draft board
May 2, 2004
Just a reminder of the upcoming draft proposals that are heading to the House and Senate in 2005 (after the election).
To prepare for this the Local Draft Board is looking for volunteers to select our young men and women to serve in these war times.
Local Board members are volunteers appointed by President Bush. They play an important community role closely connected with our nation’s defense.ÿ
If a military draft becomes necessary, approximately 2,000 Local Boards throughout America would decide which young men in each community receive deferments, postponements, or exemptions from military service based on federal guidelines.
