ISU baseball, softball washed away by storm

Bad weather forced the cancellations of competition for both the ISU baseball and softball teams Wednesday.

The Cyclone softball team was scheduled to face rival Iowa at the Southwestern Athletic Complex. The Cyclones are back in action Saturday traveling to Austin to face the Texas Longhorns, and will play the Hawkeyes in Iowa City next Wednesday.

The Cyclones sport a record of 11-19 overall and 1-5 in the Big 12 conference. Iowa State is coming off two losses at Texas A&M last weekend.

At Cap Timm Field, the ISU baseball team was scheduled to play Northern Iowa Wednesday. There is no make up game scheduled but the two teams will meet in Waterloo April 17.

The next action for the Cyclones is a three-game homestand with Kansas starting Friday afternoon. The Cyclones are 11-18-1 overall.

Tuesday, the Cyclones pulled out a 3-2 win over Grandview. Senior infielder Rob Conway led the Cyclones, finishing 3 for 4 with two runs driven in.

Conway has powered the Cyclone offense this season, leading the team in nine categories. Conway’s team leading numbers include nine doubles, two triples, four home runs, 41 hits, 66 total bases, 30 RBIs, .350 batting average and a slugging percentage of .564.
