Vilsack to host student forumGovernor Tom Vilsack will be on campus today to host an open student forum at which students may ask questions or address issues of concern.

Vilsack will be at Iowa State from 3:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Memorial Union for the student forum, which follows his regent tour that morning.

Groups sponsor pumpkin contestIn celebration of Halloween, a pumpkin-carving contest will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Pine Room of the Memorial Union.

Teams may enter the contest in the East Student Office Space of the Memorial Union.

The entry fee is $2 in advance and $3 the day of the contest, and all proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity.

Prizes will be awarded for the best jack-o-lanterns, and the Student Union Board will show the Halloween classic “Carrie” after the contest.

The Society of Women Engineers is hosting a Halloween event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Black Engineering Building.

Trick-or-treating in the Oak-Elm residence hall will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Members of the greek system will host a trick-or-treat from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the houses on Ash Avenue.
