Letters to the editor: Jerret’s the real whackjob, and I don’t care about statues, either
September 23, 2000
Jerrett’s the real whackjob, and I don’t care about statues, either I resent the statement that Greg Jerrett made about Christopher Walken being a whackjob in his article “Hang ’em high.” Apparently Mr. Jerrett doesn’t grasp the fact that actors play a character in their movies, and just because some of Chris Walken’s characters have been kind of weird doesn’t make him a whackjob. He has appeared in such distinguished movies as “Pulp Fiction,” “Suicide Kings,” “The Deer Hunter,” “Wayne’s World 2,” and “Sleepy Hollow.” He has also been on “Saturday Night Live” numerous times, and I don’t think Lorne Michaels would ask a whackjob to appear on his show. Also, as a reader of your movie reviews, I don’t think you have the right judge anything, let alone whether someone is a whackjob. I think it’s you that’s the whackjob! And since Mr. Jerrett’s column was on the statue head, I thought I’d add my 2 cents about that, too: I could care less if all the statues on campus were destroyed. Joel Porter
