The semester may be almost over, but the packing has just begun

Some students in the residence halls are excited about being almost done with the semester, but they still face the challenging task of packing.

“I’m going to put it off as long as possible,” said Joe Galm, senior in civil engineering.

Other students said they have more in their rooms than they started with this year.

“I have a room to myself, and I just kept filling it up,” Mike Ballou, sophomore in computer engineering said. “[The worst part] is trying to find a way to squeeze it all into my car.”

Laura Reiter, junior in microbiology, said she has a hard time finding enough boxes to pack everything in.

“It’s a lot of work, but it’s got to be done,” she said.

Zach Timmerman, sophomore in pre-business, said he has already started packing, so it isn’t too bad; however, he does have one problem.

“I don’t know what to do with all the stuff I hang up,” he said. “I don’t know where to stick it.”

However, some students don’t consider packing to be a bad thing.

“I don’t get too upset about it,” said Traci Devlin, freshman in Spanish. “I know it has to be done.”

However, she said she doesn’t like the fact that it all has to be unpacked when she gets home.

Beth Meier, sophomore in elementary education, said the idea of packing doesn’t bother her at all.

“I’m looking forward to it because it means I get to go home,” she said.

Meier said she is looking forward to a lack of tests or homework and having a chance to relax.

Galm said although he has to work this summer, he is also looking forward to the semester being over.

“It seems like it’s dragged on forever,” he said.

Devlin said she is looking forward to the summer, but at the same time she is not excited about her job.

“[I am] because I get to see all my friends from high school and be in my own home, and [I’m not] because I’ll have to work all summer,” she said.

Timmerman said he is definitely looking forward to the end of the semester.

“I’m sick of finals; I’m sick of studying,” he said. “I’m just ready to relax.”

Ballou said he is definitely ready to be done with the semester, as well.

“It’s been a hard semester, but it’s almost over,” he said.
