Sign your little petition for all the good it will do

To the editor:

I’ve got to respond to Justin Hare’s letter, as he is obviously an extremely misled and overly optimistic journalism major.

It seems like every school in America is having the same problems as Ames — greedy administrations more interested in making a quick buck than looking out for the students’ best interests.

Get used to it: It’s called a modern college education.

Yes, it’s terrible and it’s wrong that colleges everywhere are selling out so that the president of the school can get his 5-10 percent raise per year and free membership to Sam’s Club, but guess what?

You can’t do a thing about it.

Sign all the petitions you want; it won’t do anything but give you a warm, fuzzy feeling deep down inside while the administration conveniently files them in their circular “complaint inbox.”

Student government? HAH!

Like they have any real power or voice in any matter of importance anyway!

They are just another means for the administration to placate the masses while deciding which school tradition to destroy next.

Been there, done that.

So what’s the solution?

Graduate as quickly as you possibly can; it’s only a matter of time before your diploma won’t be worth the paper it’s printed on, and the main occupation for graduates of your once mighty school is asking, “Do you want fries with that?”
