Iowa State lost its second consecutive home game Tuesday, losing to the Baylor Bears at Hilton Coliseum.

The 73-69 loss moved the Cyclones to 19-7 on the season (8-5 Big 12) and pushed them out of a three-team tie for second place in the Big 12 standings.

The Cyclones started slow, getting beat on the boards and allowing second-chance points. Baylor held a 13-5 edge in second-chance points in the first half.

Iowa State fell behind 38-34 at halftime.

Redshirt senior guard Marial Shayok had seven points on 3-of-6 shooting before the break, while sophomore guard Lindell Wigginton chipped in with seven of his own off the bench.

After halftime, the Cyclones’ shooting picked up. Iowa State got timely 3-pointers from freshman guard Tyrese Haliburton, who finished with nine points.

Baylor pushed ahead by a slim margin and held out for the win, making clutch free throws down the stretch.

Baylor’s Jared Butler finished the game with 17 points to lead the Bears. Shayok finished with 20 to lead Iowa State.
