With the graduation of Kyle Kempt looming, along with Zeb Noland and Devon Moore’s decisions to transfer out of Iowa State’s program, the future of the Cyclones quarterback room looks a little thin.

On Sunday, Oklahoma State graduate transfer quarterback John Kolar announced on Twitter his decision to use his last year of eligibility at Iowa State.

As he mentioned in his announcement, Kolar will join his brother — tight end Charlie Kolar — in Ames.

During his time at Oklahoma State, Kolar redshirted his first season. As a redshirt freshman, Kolar logged a completion on two attempts for eight yards, and he added 18 rushing yards.

The past two seasons, Kolar has provided depth for the Cowboys.

Kolar — a Norman, Oklahoma native — skyrocketed up recruiting rankings in high school. He was ranked as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, and he was the No. 1 overall player from Oklahoma, according to ESPN.
