The Iowa State women’s basketball team took care of business in it’s final tuneup before the regular season, controlling the game from start to finish en route to a 73-39 win over the Division II Winona State Warriors.

The story of the game for the Cyclones was the team’s defense, specifically in the turnover differential. The Cyclones committed seven turnovers over the span of four quarters, while forcing the Warriors to give up the ball a total of 25 times.

This mark reflected the amount of shots each team attempted. Both teams shot a similar percentage, but Iowa State shot the ball a total of 25 more times than the Warriors.

The Cyclones defense recreated its second half domination from the previous exhibition against Southwest Baptist, holding Warriors to 12 points in the final half.

Leading the way statistically for Iowa State was Madison Wise, who had a strong outing for the second straight game with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Kristin Scott also broke double figures for the second time, nearly recording her second straight double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Iowa State will begin its regular season on Friday when the team plays Niagara University at Hilton Coliseum. Tip-off is schedule for noon.
