Iowa State softball team plays No. 7 Texas for their second of three games.

Coming off an impressive victory against Iowa Central last week, the Cyclones were looking to show up with the intent to win against DePaul.

Iowa State opened the first game hot by getting on the board early in the top of the first. Another score in the third inning put them up 2-0 against the Blue Demons.

Iowa State would start to run away with the game by putting up three runs in the top of the fourth. Another run in the fifth inning puts the Cyclones up 6-0.

The Iowa State bullpen did a great job pitching in the opening game, only allowing two hits and no scores for DePaul.

A final two runs in the final inning of the first game sealed Iowa State’s 8-0 victory.

The second game started in a similar fashion. Iowa State put one run on the board in the top of the second inning.

Five runs in the third and two more in the fourth put Iowa State up by a comfortable 8-0 lead.

Iowa State would finish off their night at the plate by putting one more score on the board in the top of the fifth.

DePaul did answer back with a score of their own in the bottom of the fifth, but the Cyclone bullpen would keep them to one run in the inning.

Similar to the first game, Iowa State only allowed three hits for DePaul and came out with a 9-1 win.

The Iowa State Softball team will look to continue their impressive fall season on Friday, September 24th as they play Kirkwood in Ames.
