Iowa State beats Northern Illinois 70-60 in second preseason WNIT Tournament game

In their second game of the preseason WNIT Tournament, Iowa State squared off against Northern Illinois.

Iowa State won 70-60 as Bridget Carleton recorded a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Carleton shot 9-for-17 from the field and 3-for-7 from three while also recording six assists.

Kristin Scott finished the game with 15 points and seven rebounds. Madi Wise had 12 points and six rebounds.

Iowa State finished the first quarter with a 24-15 lead.

Iowa State shot 57.9% from the floor while Northern Illinois shot 31.6%. The Cyclones had 18 points in the paint in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Iowa State finished the half ahead 41-29.

Carleton and Scott finished the first half with double-digit points. Both had 11 points, while Carleton also had six rebounds and four assists. Scott had six rebounds.

In the second half, Iowa State’s shooting percentage dipped to 38.7% while Northern Illinois’ was 33.3%.

Overall, Iowa State finished the game with 46 points in the paint to Northern Illinois’ 20. Iowa State had 16 offensive rebounds in the game.
