Iowa State gets their revenge against Seattle

On Saturday, the Cyclones got walked off against the Seattle Redhawks by a score of 3-2 thanks to a late rally in the seventh inning.

On Sunday however, Iowa State showed that they can brush off the loss and were able to beat down on the Redhawks with a final score of 6-0. The pitching staff was able to lock down the Redhawks chances of scoring as they put up a combined three hits and four walks against the Cyclones pitching.

Meanwhile, the Cyclones got off to a hot start on offense as they put up five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Those runs were headlined by freshman third baseman Ashley Minor’s three-run home run that gave the Cyclones their first lead of the day.

Iowa State was able to put up six runs with nine hits as they split the series with Seattle.

Cyclones battle back in the sixth to secure win over Idaho State

The Cyclones played the Idaho State Bengals in their second matchup of the day Sunday. They ended up finding themselves down early, when a triple by the Bengals scored three runs to give them the early lead over Iowa State.

The Cyclones put up their first two runs of the day thanks to a single by senior second baseman Kasey Simpson in the fourth inning. The Cyclones ramped up their scoring in the sixth as they put up five runs on the Bengals and took the lead by a score of 7-3.

The Bengals added on in the bottom of the sixth with a single to make it 7-4 Iowa State, but were not able to do anything else. The Cyclones went on to win their second and final game of the day.
