Cyclone Hockey started off strong in its first game of a home-and-home series against Waldorf with a 12-1 win Friday night.

It all began with a four-goal first period. The Cyclones got on the score sheet at just 1:32 into the game, courtesy of C.J. Banser.

Goals from senior forward Aaron Azevedo, sophomore forward Dylan Goggin and senior forward Tony Uglem came all throughout the first period, amidst multiple power plays and penalty kills for each side.

One of the penalties assessed was to senior forward Adam Alcott for contact to the head, which resulted in his disqualification.

The Warriors’ Kaden Hintz added a goal with 13:01 left in the first, making the score 4-1 after one period of play.

While the Warriors’ netminder Dominic Lamanno had multiple big robberies in the second, he wasn’t able to fend off the Cyclones’ dominant offense. Uglem, Azevedo, Goggin, sophomore defenseman Max Olson and senior forward Trevor Sabo added a goal each to make the score 9-1, Cyclones, after two periods.

Lamanno was driven from the net and replaced by Jeffrey Veitch with five minutes left in the second.

More penalties were assessed to both teams in the third, leading to multiple power play chances for both teams. Sabo capitalized on an odd-man rush during 4-on-4 play, and Halbach added to the score on the power play. Nick Rogers scored the final goal of the game with 8:59 left in the third, to make the score 12-1.

Senior goalie Matt Goedeke played solid for the Cyclones, allowing only one goal in three periods.

Cyclone Hockey plays at Waldorf at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
