Ames Police have made two additional arrests after a man was fatally shot on the evening of Jan. 18 on South 5th Street.
The victim, identified on Jan. 21, was Parker L. Stoneburner, age 25. Officers arrived at the scene around 6:30 p.m. after reports of an emergency and found Stoneburner suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
An updated press release from Ames police stated on Monday, the Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force in Independence, Missouri, arrested Zoe Anderson, 21, and Abraham Guhnics, 19, for First Degree Murder – a class A felony.
A class A felony is the most serious type of felony, and the maximum punishment is life imprisonment and, in some cases, death.
Previously, Guhnics was charged with fourth-degree theft, but the court dismissed the charges in 2024.
Anderson was found guilty of third-degree harassment in Boone County in 2023.
In late January, Destiny Skurdal, age 19, of Ames, Iowa, was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery degree, which is a class B felony.
According to the Iowa Code, a person commits robbery in the first degree when “the person purposely inflicts or attempts to inflict serious injury, or is armed with a dangerous weapon.”
A class B felony in Iowa can lead to a prison sentence of up to 25 years. Some class B felonies also have a mandatory minimum sentence.
“We believe that Destiny conspired with Abraham and Zoe to rob Parker that night, and during that robbery, he was assaulted and then shot,” Major Jason Tuttle said in an interview with the Daily. “We believe there could be other people involved, it’s still an active investigation, we’re going to continue to follow up on leads as we get them.”
“If anybody in the public has any other information now that they’ve been named publicly, we would want them to come forward and talk to our detectives,” Tuttle said.
