Iowa State wrapped up its five-game slate at the Mardi Gras Mambo in Monroe, Louisiana, with a dominant 10-0 victory over Grambling State in five innings. The Cyclones finished the weekend 3-2, bringing their overall record to 9-9.
Iowa State wasted no time setting the tone, plating five runs in the first inning before adding three in the fourth and two in the fifth to secure its third run-rule win of the tournament.
Freshman Sami Potvin delivered a historic performance in just her third career start, throwing a perfect game through five innings. She retired all 15 batters she faced, striking out nine, which set a season-high mark for the Cyclones.
Her perfect game is the sixth in school history, according to previous reporting by the Daily. The last perfect game by a Cyclone was Tori Torrescano in 2013, which was also five innings. Iowa State last held an opponent hitless in a combined no-hitter against Fordham in 2023.

The offense backed Potvin in a big way, exploding for 10 runs on 11 hits. Freshman Sereniti Trice and junior Reagan Bartholomew each tallied a pair of hits, while sophomore Maddie Knowles and junior Ashley Minor launched their first home runs of the season.
Seven different Cyclones recorded an RBI, with Knowles leading the charge thanks to her two-run blast in the fourth. Minor and freshman Victoria Prado capitalized on pinch-hit opportunities, with Minor crushing a solo home run and Prado recording her first career hit and RBI on a single.
Juniors Tatum Johnson and McKenna Andrews each legged out triples and later came around to score. The Cyclones were also aggressive on the base paths, swiping three bases, one each from Trice, freshman Jessie Clemons and junior Sydney Malott. They left just one runner on base, marking a season-low in that category.
Grambling State struggled to find an answer against Iowa State. Three batters struck out twice, and a costly error by the catcher allowed a run to score.
Starting pitcher Chloe Wilson gave up five runs on five hits in the first two frames, while Erin Gibbs entered in relief and surrendered five more runs on six hits.
Riding the momentum of back-to-back 10-run performances, Iowa State now turns its attention to Big 12 Conference play. The Cyclones travel to Houston for a three-game series against the Cougars beginning at 6 p.m. Friday.
