Hy-Vee has dinner deals throughout the week that are perfect for someone on a budget. Not only is the food good quality, but the service is quick and mindful of guests. The steak dinner is one of the best of the meal deals offered during the week.
Steak night is held at the East Ames Hy-Vee #2, known as the Lincoln Center Hy-Vee. It runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Thursday night. The deal comes with a steak, a choice of two sides and a bread roll for $10.
During the winter months, the deal is held inside near the Market Grille. Once the weather gets nicer, the deal is moved outside where they grill the steaks for people to come up to grab and go.
On steak night last Thursday, there were about 10 people sitting in the Market Grille eating their steak dinner and a fair amount carrying out meals to go. The steaks were of good size and tasted delicious. However, they were precooked to the same temperature and not to customers’ desired level. On this particular night, they were well done.
This meal size, value and quality makes it a worthwhile deal, especially if one is in the mood for comfort food.
Lydia Cleghorn, a senior in communication studies, enjoyed her dinner.
“[Steak dinner is] great food for a great price,” Cleghorn said. “It felt like a home cooked meal.”
Other dinner deals that Hy-Vee hosts include:
- Monday: $8 meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans
- Tuesday: $6 two piece chicken tenders with sauce, coleslaw and baked beans
- Wednesday: $7 grilled pork chop with a baked potato and carrots
- Thursday: $10 steak dinner with mashed potatoes and corn
- Friday: $6 fish and chips with french fries and coleslaw
