Olive Garden recently announced their move to open an Ames location. The restaurant’s news has social media abuzz, although there has been no timeline given for when they will be up and running. 

The Ames restaurant is planned to be the eleventh location to open in Iowa. The others are in Coralville, Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Waterloo, Dubuque, Ankeny, Council Bluffs, Sioux City, Des Moines and West Des Moines.

The 35 minute drive down to the nearest Olive Garden in Ankeny will no longer be necessary. The new Ames location is planned to be built on the northwest corner of Highway 30 and Dayton Avenue.

The new location hopes to bring about 150 jobs to Ames. According to the company’s website, they employ over 100,000 people and have over 900 locations.

The restaurant is famous for their meal deals. Some of their most popular ones include six dollar take home entrees or unlimited soup, salad and breadsticks for a low price. Their menu can be found based on location and linked here.
