From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, Ames will have its second annual Renaissance Faire.
Attendees to the event at 1400 S 4th Street will be able to travel back to medieval times. Attendees will experience more than 40 vendors, three stages, two encampments, food, games and more.
From belly dancing to fire breathing, the Renaissance Faire will have entertainment along with food vendors, including Montana Mikes, The Mucky Duck Pub, Ninas Tacos, Spirits of the Faire, Olde Thyme Kettle Corn and GBA Gnomatic Snow. Vendors will be selling leather goods, arts and crafts, D&D items and more.
Three stages will hold performances, including knife throwing, axe throwing and other performances with an alternative platform that will have live sword fighting.
“[It is like a] farmer’s market with a medieval twist,” said Kaley McCombs, one of the event’s main directors.
McCombs is a sophomore in event management and has been working tirelessly since the fall semester with a team of two other students, Mira Voelker and Lee Foster, to organize this event.
From 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Sunday morning, there will be a Sacred Music Show. The Ravenscroft Musicke Guilde will be performing a concert at the front of the faire and collecting donations. All proceeds and tips raised will be donated to a local food bank, Food at First, in Ames.
Attendees are encouraged to wear cosplay outfits, medieval dress or any casual wear. The Ames Renaissance Faire will be an opportunity to experience something new with family or friends in the city of Ames this weekend.
Purchase a day pass online for $15 or a two-day pass for $25. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the entrance.
