Iowa State and Ames’ Earth Day celebration will occur Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the south Parks Library lawn. This year’s theme, sponsored by the Office of Sustainability, is “Our Green Community, Our Sustainable Future.”
According to the website, the theme reminds “us of our collective sustainability contributions (individually, as a campus and as a community) and challenges us to make our next commitment.”
The celebration will feature interactive upcycling activities such as “Stay and Create” and “Take and Create,” along with opportunities to win sustainable prizes. KURE will provide music, and there will be cookies and fruit-infused water available.
ISU Recreation Services will be offering free bike tune-ups, and there will also be opportunities to donate to the SHOP campus food pantry.
See the Office of Sustainability’s website for more details about the Earth Day celebration.
Although the celebration takes place on April 22, Earth Month is celebrated by the Office of Sustainability through April on campus and around Ames. Visit their website to see the full calendar of events, including volunteering, hands-on skills building, lectures and recreation.
