The Iowa State track and field team is set to host the Cyclone Twilight meet Friday at the Cyclone Sports Complex. This event marks the final regular-season competition for the Cyclones before the Big 12 Outdoor Championships.
After a series of impressive performances at the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, Arizona, the team looks to maintain momentum and fine-tune its events ahead of postseason competition.
Junior sprinter Rachel Joseph enters the Cyclone Twilight following a standout showing at the Desert Heat Classic, where she broke two school records.
Joseph set new marks in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes, showcasing her exceptional speed and form as the postseason approaches. Her performances have positioned her as a key athlete to watch in the upcoming meet.
The Cyclone Twilight will have a stacked field for the Cyclones to compete against. The Nebraska Cornhuskers will be competing in Ames with their No. 4-ranked men’s and No. 19-ranked women’s teams.
The Cyclones will also have to watch out for their in-state rivals, the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Hawkeyes have the No. 18-ranked men’s team. The Cyclones will also compete against other in-state rivals such as the Northern Iowa Panthers and Drake Bulldogs.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers will also be competing, giving the Cyclones yet another ranked team to compete against, as the Gophers men’s team is ranked No. 7 in the nation.
The Cyclone Twilight will begin at 3 p.m. Friday.
