Polls in Iowa are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. Voters in line by 8 p.m. can still cast their ballot if they stay in line.

Iowa offers same-day registration at polling locations. Visit the link to see the correct polling location. Bring an ID and proof of residence. Valid forms of ID include:
- Iowa Voter Identification Card
- Iowa Driver’s License
- Iowa Non-Operator ID
- U.S. Military ID or Veteran ID
- U.S. Passport
- Tribal ID Card/Document
If the ID doesn’t provide the voter’s current address, they will need to provide proof of address, which must include name and current address, be within 45 days and can be electronic or on paper. Acceptable proof of residence includes a lease, utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or government check, as well as any other government-issued document.

Voters may select up to two candidates for the city hospital trustees:

- Mary Kitchell
- Beth Swenson

School offices
Voters may choose up to three of the following candidates for Ames school director at-large.

- Jennifer A Tipton
- Kelly Winfrey

Voters can select yes or no to the following public measure B:
Should the City of Ames enter into a loan agreement and issue general obligation bonds of up to $10,500,000 to construct, furnish and equip a new fire station as a replacement for Fire Station No. 2?

If not sent in by mail, absentee ballots must be returned in person before 8 p.m. Tuesday. A voter’s absentee ballot can be transported by close family members or someone within the same household.
