After winning the 97-kilogram challenge tournament on Saturday, former Cyclone Kyven Gadson advanced to the best two-of-three finals on Sunday.

Awaiting Gadson was former Oklahoma State wrestler Austin Schafer. Schafer and Gadson wrestled at the U.S. Open, with Schafer knocking off Gadson, 4-3.

On Sunday, Gadson avenged his U.S. Open loss.

In the first match with under a minute left in the second period, Gadson clung to a 2-1 lead. With under 30 seconds, Gadson poured on six more points to finish with an 8-1 score.

Schafer withdrew from the rest of the competition due to injury. As a result, Gadson will advance to the Final X on June 9 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Gadson will compete against Kyle Snyder in another best-of-three format for a spot on the senior level world team.
