Iowa State picked up a commitment from three-star linebacker Coal Flansburg on Tuesday.

Flansburg marks the ninth class of 2019 commitment and the fourth on the defensive side of the ball. All 2019 commits are three-stars, according to 247Sports.

The class of 2019 appears focused on midwest prospects, adding athletes from South Dakota, Missouri, Illinois, Kansas and Iowa. Flansburg — a Solon, Iowa native — continues that trend.

In 2017, the linebacker racked up 42 tackles, two sacks and three interceptions.
