Typically, closing announcements during the final session of a Student Government administration are heartfelt, touching and oftentimes serve as a final goodbye to the Senate for outgoing senators and graduating seniors.

Sometimes, however, they’re anything but. Or if they are any of the traits listed above, it’s rare to be told through song. Usually.

Take for instance former Sen. Isaiah Baker and outgoing President Cody West singing a mostly in-key parody of “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver, but with a Student Government twist.

Some lyrics included:

“Passing bylaws, but not New York Times,

Meetings way passed midnight, here the Campanile chime,

Lincoln Way, take me home,

To the stu org where I belong,

Serving students at Iowa State,

Take me home, down Lincoln Way.”

Or take outgoing Finance Director Steven Valentino and incoming Vice President Juan Bibiloni who, well, see for yourself (it’s a rap about finance).
