Texas offense too much for Cyclones in 8-0 loss

The Iowa State Cyclones came back to its home field to play a double header against the Texas Longhorns on Friday afternoon.

The Cyclones started with Emma Hylen at the mound.

The scoring began early in the game when Texas’ MK Tedder homered to left field for two runs, scoring in Janae Jefferson.

The Longhorns would then not let up scoring in the second inning when Paige von Sprecken doubled to center field, scoring in Jefferson and Kaitlyn Slack.

The Cyclones could not get any offense going on, and the Longhorns would keep theirs going in the top of the fourth and fifth.

Jefferson would show up again when she grounded out to shortstop Sami Williams but would allow Ki’Audra Hayter to score in unearned.

In the fifth, right fielder the for the Longhorns would homer to center field for a three RBI’s, scoring in teammates Teddy and Taylor Ellsworth.

The Cyclones were hitless throughout the entire game until Sally Woolpert singled in the bottom of the fifth.

Defensively the Cyclones managed to pull a double play with runners on third and first base during the top of third.

Hylen pitched for all five innings, allowing seven hits for seven earned runs out of the eight total runs. She accounted for only one strikeout.
