Six members of Cyclone Hockey have been recognized for their efforts during the 2017-18 season.

Senior defenseman Kody Reuter and junior forward Tony Uglem for the Division I team, along with junior defenseman Jeremy Szczurek, senior forward Eric Baldwin, freshman goalie Tony Galliart and head coach Scott Ismond of the Division II team, all received postseason accolades in their respective leagues over the last two days.

For both Reuter and Uglem, this is the third consecutive year earning postseason awards.

The captain of the Cyclones this past season, Reuter was named to the Central States Collegiate Hockey League All-Defensive team for the third time in his four-year career. While his impact rarely shows up on the stat sheet, Reuter was a steadying force for the Cyclones this past season with his physicality and ability to play multiple roles within the team.

Uglem, meanwhile, was the Cyclones best player statistically this past season and earned second team All-CSCHL honors for his efforts. Uglem scored a total of 41 points, 22 goals and 19 assists, and once again was the Cyclones’ most consistent offensive player throughout the season.

On the D2 side, head coach Scott Ismond won Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association Coach of the Year the second consecutive year and for the first time at the D2 level. In the Cyclones first season at in Division II, Ismond led the team to 22-8-1 record and an upset win over powerhouse and league rival McKendree University.

For the players, Szczurek took home first team All-MACHA honors for his prowess as a scoring defenseman. Meanwhile, Baldwin’s scoring and Galliart’s excellent freshman season earned them a spot on the second team.

The only player of the three not returning next season for the Cyclones is Baldwin, who wraps up his hockey career at Iowa State after three seasons with the D2 team. With that in mind, the future certainly looks bright for coach Ismond’s squad.
