Senior guard Donovan Jackson was selected today to participate in the 3-point championship at the 30th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships, according to a press release from the Iowa State Athletics Department. He was also chosen to play in the 3X3U National Championship.

The senior guard was one of eight players selected to participate in the 3-point championship on Thursday, March 29, at St. Mary’s University’s Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio, Texas. The event will start at 8 p.m. on ESPN2.

Jackson isn’t the first Cyclone to compete in this competition as Naz Mitrou-Long participated last year along with three other former Iowa State players competing throughout the program’s history.

The 3X3U National Championship is a tournament with 32 four-man teams who represent every Division I school. Each team will compete against each other in a 3-on-3 type environment.

Jackson will be teamed with Baylor’s Manu Lecomte, West Virginia’s Daxter Miles and Texas Tech’s Zach Smith to represent the Big 12 Conference. The four players will be competing for a $100,000 prize from March 30 to April 1 at St. Mary’s University. The games can be followed on Twitter as well as ESPN2.

Jackson was known for his 3-point shot this season as he connected on 95 3-pointers this past season and averaged 15 points per game. In his two seasons at Iowa State, Jackson had 139 shots from behind the arc, which was 11th all-time in program history.
