Since 141-pounder Kanen Storr was granted his release from Iowa State on Jan. 23, the Iowa State coaching staff has commented on the situation, but Storr remained silent.

On Thursday evening, Storr broke his silence.

Storr claims assistant coach Brent Metcalf shoved Storr after a 9-7 loss to West Virginia’s Christian Monserrat. The day after the dual, Storr was in Mike Zadick’s office watching tape.

After film, Storr said Zadick gave him the ultimatum of wrestling at Iowa State for his career or asking for a release by the next day. Storr said he decided he needed to get out of the “negative situation” resulting in him being released and not being able to compete at NCAA Championships this March.

In Storr’s statement, he also refutes claims of tampering during his time at Iowa State. Storr said the Paulson brothers were called as more of an emotional support through the tough times at Iowa State, but never tampered while he was a Cyclone.

“I hope this sheds some light on the situation,” Storr said to finish his statement on Twitter.
